Mythe Medical Practice
We are an urban/rural Practice based in Tewkesbury town serving a population of 12,500.
The practice is the product of the merger on 1st April 2015 of Watledge Surgery and Jesmond House Practice previously based in Barton Road and Chance Street respectively.
Watledge Surgery can trace its beginnings back to 1883 and during the years until 1954 the location of the practice moved several times within the town centre. It finally came to rest at Watledge House in Barton Road and the most recent premises were then built in the grounds of the house in 1967. Jesmond House Practice was started in 1979 by Dr. Andrew Chapman, a Partner at Watledge Surgery, who opened his single handed Practice in the High Street. In April 2015 the story came full circle when the two Practices merged to form Mythe Medical Practice.
Doctors Hutchison and Fearn have been key members of the NewDocs team in bringing The Devereux Centre to fruition.
We were delighted to receive an “Outstanding” rating following our recent Inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
We are an approved training practice for GP trainees, medical students and allied health professionals (e.g. paramedics) and have recently been quality approved as ‘Excellent’ for being both an effective educational environment and safe supportive working environment.
We are a RCGP ‘research ready’ practice and an active member of the NIHR Clinical Research network.
We are active members of the Tewkesbury, Newent and Staunton (TNS) Practice Based Commissioning Locality Group.
