Church Street Medical

The Church Street Practice can trace its origins back to 1910 and has treated generations of Tewkesbury residents over the last 106 years.

All of our doctors maintain an interest across the whole breadth of general practice. The practice also has hospital posts at Tewkesbury Hospital, with admission rights for their patients to the wards.

From our website, churchstreetdoctors.com patients can also access the online system which allows booking of appointments and re-order of repeat prescriptions.

Mythe Medical Practice

The practice is the product of a merger on 1st April 2015 of Watledge Surgery and Jesmond House Practice. Watledge Surgery can trace its beginnings back to 1883 and came to rest at Watledge House in Barton Road.  Jesmond House Practice was started in 1979 by Dr. Andrew Chapman, a Partner at Watledge Surgery, who opened his single-handed Practice in the High Street.  In April 2015 the story came full circle when the two Practices merged to form Mythe Medical Practice. For information on the extensive range of services the practice offers please see our website www.mythemedical.co.uk

New Docs Ltd

New Docs Limited was formed back in 2010 by 10 GPs from both Mythe Medical Practice and Church Street Medical. The company owns and runs The Devereux Centre and also rents out private rooms within the building. There are 11 private consultation rooms that can be used by a range of medical professionals. Also available to rent in The Devereux Centre are two conference rooms, a group meeting room, a counselling room and a minor operations suite. If you would like to discuss renting space within The Devereux Centre, please contact New Docs via the ‘Contact Us‘ page.

The history of the Devereux Centre

The first meeting to discuss the possibility of a new medical centre for all the Tewkesbury GPs took place in 2002 and finally, the Devereux Centre opened to patients in March 2017. Good things come to those who wait and continue to work hard! The Centre is named after Dr.Devereux who was involved in setting up the first Tewkesbury Rural Hospital in 1865 which interestingly only took 3 months from inception to opening!

Seddon Construction Ltd was appointed as the developers and work began on site in late 2015. Monthly progress meetings were held with the lead GPs and the project managers and keys were handed over in November 2016.

We wanted the building to be more than a large GP surgery. A building that would have the capacity to house as many health and health-related facilities as possible for the people of the Tewkesbury area. A building capable of providing excellent health care in the new millennium. The Devereux Centre, owned and run by New Docs Ltd, will house the two GP surgeries in Tewkesbury – Church Street Medical and Mythe Medical Practice. There is a pharmacy on the ground floor and a minor operations suite on the first floor as well as private rooms offering facilities for a wide range of services.

Situated on the same site as the old Tewkesbury Hospital and across the road from the new one, the Devereux Centre completes the health campus of which Tewkesbury can be proud.
